It is only a matter of time before there is a crash or accident outside of the sport centre because of all the cars parked round the sport centre when there is venue been held there. Surely there is something that can be do to stop all the cars parking its a nightmare when cars are parked and the Arriva buses cannot not get round corners . Is it up too the Sport Centre Staff, Police or The council to sort this mess out it seems to be nearly everyday now that there cars are paked in the way.

Yeah it can be very bad, the land to the south of the sports centre should be made into additional parking. Of course this should have been discussed before the re-development of the sports centre to hold gymnastics events.
Am glad I've got my POLICE cone, at least I can stop them parking outside my place.

Hi poundy, you say Arriva buses can't get round. The important question is could a fire engine get access? If the answer is no you can contact your local fire station and ask them to check out the situation. Im a firefighter my self, but Im based down in Derby so Im afraid the situations a bit out of my area! Just a thought anyway.

Living very near the sports centre I would just like to say you are very right the car parking situation during gymnastic displays and school holidays is a huge concern. Not only do sports centre visitors block the bus route but they also park on grass or in some cases block peopled srive ways for their own convenience. I have witnessed altercations between local residents and vistors who just park their vehicles blocking drivers. Most of these people have expensive cars and obviously careers of high importance so why carn't they show a bit of consideration and sense towards residents. After all the sports centre was originally built to provide leisure facilities for the people of this village. Most of these people are not even from the Durham area and cause so much chaos in hours they visit our village without any remorse or sense of shame. I think they should be clamped.

Hi I heard about the new parking , was I right in thinking it was only for about 40 cars, if so, that really isn't enough. Why not use a park and ride scheme, park at one of the park and ride facilities and a bus bring them to the sports centre.

I for one can't stand to have my driveway blocked! I live beside a park and cars constantly block my driveway. It's amazing - and impossible to back my car out until I've found the drivers blocking me - I've called the police several times. (Yes, it helps - when they see police car, they run to their cars to move them...)

At last the extra car park is not finished, but there are still some out there that still don't use the car park
