Hi everyone, I am a primary school teacher at Saint Joseph's school and for our next history/geography topic I would like my children to learn about their local area, new and old.
It would be great if anyone had any photo's I could use, any information they would like to share or if anyone was brave enough to come in and have a hundred questions fired at them. We will be having a walk around the village at some point this summer term so if you have any relevant information I could use to jazz up the walk or any particular place we could visit I would be so grateful to receive the help and advice.
Thanks Kelly
It would probably be best to send any e mails to my hotmail account as I check it more often.
It's kellybombelly@hotmail.com

Good luck on your project, you can of course use any information on the Ushaw Site, the memories pages may help, they include talk of the village in the past and how it has changed. Memories page : ushawmoor.blogspot.com/New memories page : ushawmoormemories.blog.com/Paul

I hope your project was a great success. For your own interest you may like to order 'The Deerness Valley' from the library. It tells the history from Roman times to the coming of the mines and beyond. The social history is really fascinating. How my poor mining ancestors suffered. It's quite poignant.
